Church Crookham Allotments Open

Matthew_1st May 2015 : Matthew Chambers, Chairperson of the Allotments Association writes…

“For those of you that attended the first meeting of the Fleet and Church Crookham Allotments campaign group in January 2008 the wait is over! Back then, Gordon Brown had just completed his first 6 months as Prime Minister, our athletes were training for the Beijing Olympics and Terminal 5 was nearing completion!

The final legal transfer of the Church Crookham allotment site is now complete and we will all be able to start digging and planting.

As most of you will know, we have formed a tenants association for the site and we are going to be called Church Crookham Allotments Association. The purpose of the Association is to represent the interests of the allotment tenants and seeking future improvements to the site, liaise with the Parish Council, organise social events, raise funds for improvements, provide advice and guidance to plotholders, maintain a website and promote the benefits of having an allotment to the wider community. There are 12 of us on the committee and you will find our roles and responsibilities and contact details on the website.

I look forward to meeting you all at the allotments site over the coming weeks.”
